KUWAIT GOV’T TO DEPORT 245 GHANAIAN’S – OPPONG NKRUMAH

Ghana’s Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that, 245 Ghanaians will be repatriated from Kuwait to the country.

Addressing the media, he said, the Kuwait government has already inform the government of Ghana that it is set to deport those people accused of staying in Kuwait illegally from their country.

“The government of Kwait has informed the government of Ghana, of an intention to deport 245 Ghanaians who are currently in Kuwait illegally.
The Government of Kuwait has further requested permission from Ghana’s government to bring these persons into the Ghanaian jurisdiction on saturday 23rd May, 2020″

Though Ghana’s boarders are closed, the government of Ghana has granted a special permit for their transportation into the country.

Measures taken

The deportees will be under mandatory quarantine and tested for covid-19 immediately upon arrival into Ghana.
Those who will test positive will be isolated for treatment, those who will test negative will remain in quarantine for a second test.
Government will bear the cost, he added.

The deportees will go under the state’s custody for investigation

“the deportees will generally be received and handled in line with the aviation regulations for all deportees, I.e, they will be under custody of the state for preliminary investigations on the circumstances their illegal stay in Kuwait”
